GAZA (Reuters) - Palestinian Islamic Jihad militants carried out a deadly attack on Israeli troops in the Gaza Strip Wednesday, a group spokesman said.


This just proves to me and the rest of the world that the Palestinians 1) don't want peace with Israel, 2) don't deserve their own autonomous Palestinian state. The newly elected president of the Palestinians, Mahmoud Abbas, was a clear indication that the Palestinians and Israelis want to work towards peace...but there's the faction that wants to ruin it. Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon (news - web sites) called Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday to congratulate him for winning the Palestinian presidential elections, the latest sign the two sides are eager to restart peace efforts after years of stalemate under the tyrannical Yassir Arafat.
